Earl is one of the hunters in the game Crucible.
Background[]
Earl was a long-haul space trucker, carrying cargo of all sorts across the Orion Arm. Flying the space lanes in a Class-T bulk freighter was never going to make Earl rich, but it paid the bills—mostly—for his wife and kids back home. Earl found he had a knack for no-hassle, no-questions-asked deliveries.
That all changed the day Earl stopped on Crucible for a routine supply drop, just as Colony Zero was under attack from the planet’s native life. Earl pitched in as best he could, using his ship as a makeshift evacuation vessel. He made one too many rescue trips, though, and Crucible’s elemental fury tore his ship’s hull apart and wrecked his jump drive.
Stranded on Crucible Orbital Station ever since, Earl is scrambling to earn enough money to pay for repairs and get back to his family. Essence hunting offers a big potential payday—and Earl has a knack for fighting, too.
Personnel File[]
"Earl is a family man, devoted to his human wife and adopted children. He named his cargo ship after his wife, Misty, then salvaged its wreckage for parts when he constructed a quad-gun (also named Misty; Earl is not an imaginative fellow).
He complains about station management, but Earl will ultimately toe the line. He’s stranded here until he can afford to have his ship rebuilt. It’s sad that stuff keeps happening to the big lug that keeps him here."
- Lawrence Tibolt, Commander, Crucible Orbital Station
